HTML Help:
HTLM Goodies is a web site that speaks to every level of web page design. If you are a beginner, or looking to add "cool stuff" to your pages, it's a good place to start.

Graphics & Images:
Photo Impact X3 If you're serious about doing a Web Page and want some great software that will do everything but paint your house, then buy this! It clearly is setting new standards for Web tools and is very reasonably priced. All of the artwork and picture editing is for this site, and those I design is done with this software. You can also design a web page, slice it into tables and parts and Photo Impact will write the HTML code for you. For previous owners of PI the upgrade is very reasonable. Buy it...love it! [grin]
Easy Thumbnails 2.53 If you want to have a picture page or photo album, this software lives up to it's name...and then some. Did I mention, it's FREE? "Ctrl-Click" the images you want, and EZ Thumbnails will make thumbnail images automatically. It also includes a Wep Page template that you can use to make the web page that displays your images. You can use Note Tab to edit it to display them any way you like. If you're not good with code, Fookes Software has thought of that too. Album Express is an easy to use program that gives you lots of "point and click" options.

Domain Name
It is now very affordable to have your own domain name. For around $10-15 a year you can have a "YourNameHere.com" too! I use MyDomain.com which offers an opportunity to register your domain for a year for $8.95. Here is the best part. You can redirect your domain and e-mail to any existing account for free. No banner ads. There is no monthly fee to host your domain. In less than one month you'll more that pay for the domain name itself!

Web Authoring:
NoteTab is now the HTML editor I use. These pages are written and updated with it. It comes in three versions. NoteTab Light (FREE), NoteTab Pro ($19.95 and NoteTab Std ($9.95). You can try it before you buy it. You can also download a FREEWARE version that costs you nothing! This should get you off to great start. These days there are lots of programs that will enable you to make a nice site on your own. If you are using a Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, you already have an editor that will create web pages. Be wared that some ISP's have a problem with web sites designed with Front Page. To find it go to File / Edit with Microsoft Front Page Editor on your IE browser.
DiDa is a program that is close, and easy to use. The PRO editor will run $35. It has a friendly interface, but not as powerful as the less expensive NoteTab.

Blog:
It's a way for people to update their web pages without knowing HTML. There are two ways to do this. The first is the easiest. Go to Blogger.com, get the free service and add it to your web site. It's easy and the instructions and discussions are good. There are also other providers like Blog*spot, giving you even more options.
If your ISP allows you to have control over CGI and Perl then you might want to set up your own. The pest program I've found is Greymatter. Noel Grey has written an exceptional program, and it's free, although, he does request you send him $10 or so. It is really worth much more.

Internet Service Providers:
If your ISP (Internet Service Provider) gives you web space, then you're ready to go. Most offer up to 10 megabytes of space. AT&T and Earthlink have the same offer.
If you're serious about an online presence, get a Web Host.
I currently use KnownHost.com and A Small Orange. You can get lots of web space for as little as $5 a month or even as low as $25 a year. Please note. I recommend to never buy or manage your domain name with the same company that hosts your web site. If you run into a bad web host and want to redirect your domain name, it's much easier to do.
