Browser WarsEvery effort is made to design and make a page that will look good on any browser. I use the latest version of Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firebird to view these pages. Java script and coding have come a long way since this iste began in 1995. There are effects on this page that require the newer browsers. Things should look and work fine on IE 4.0 and Netscape 5.0 and Mozilla. You may get some error messages when viewing these pages with an older browser. Any problems, please let me know.Cookies and Pop UpsNo, it's not a tea party. I don't believe in cookies. That's a code that is left on your computer to tell me your viewing habits. I'm just glad you're here. Some pages will not work properly without your browser accepting cookies. Not here. Java is also a great code that lets you write amazing fun things into your code. There are two that I use all the time. One is the code that allows your link to change color when your mouse pointer hovers over the link. These effects will not be displayed on many older browsers. You'll also see Flash media used here. All up to date browsers are prepared to recognize it.Be warned that some links and external pages may not work properly if you use a "pop up preventer" type software. Because BillElder.us and .com uses frames, any link outside of the page is thrown to a new pop up page. This is to let you know that the link is not associated with these pages. Some anti-pop up software will see this as a pop up and prevent you from seeing it. You may prevent this by going into your software and telling it to always show pop ups from this page. I swear I won't ever try to sell you an X-10 camera. LOL! |
BillElder.us / Home.BillElder.comNow there is a BillElder.com. It's a clone of my business site but you can also get to these pages using the subdirectory "home". That means that home.billelder.com will bring you to the opening page of this site. This is all in my continuing effort to make getting here and remembering how as frustrating as possible.Round, Round, Get Around...How do you navigate from the top bar? At the top of the page is voiceovers | radiocareer | and homepage. Note that the key words are in bold to emphasize the correct prefix or suffix for that page. In other words, if you want to go to directly to Bill's Homepage, then you would add "home" before the URL (http://home.billelder.com) . This is called a sub-domain. Oh...and no www is required. You may use it if you want, but http://billelder.com will work just fine.BIG TIP: If at any time you want to go back to the opening page just click on "BillElder" at the top of the page. SubdirectoriesA subdirectory is a word before the domain name that sends you to a specific page. That means that blinks.billelder.us (or .com) will take you directly to the Blinks page. (That's MY start page, btw) Here are a list of subdirectories that will help you get directly to pages on these pages:podcast.billelder.us | podcast.billelder.com billtv.billelder.us | billtv.billelder.com blinks.billelder.us | blinks.billelder.com choir.billelder.us | choir.billelder.com harrypotter.billelder.us | harrypotter.billelder.com home.billelder.us | home.billelder.com uk.billelder.us | uk.billelder.com swim.billelder.us | swim.billelder.com etc. all for your surfing convenience! |
About FramesI'll try to make this as simple as possible. FIRST: The navigation bar is intended to make your "getting around" much easier and to speed up the download times of the pages. SECOND: I don't believe in "trapping" people on my site. That means that even though I'm using "fames" sparingly...you'll never get trapped going to another page with my navigation bar on top. This is the case with links from the BLINKS page.I've tried to make this format easy to navigate. I'm still finding things that may not be "just right" but I'll keep trying to improve. These pages are ever changing and updating. Buttons On The HomepageSome have mentioned the buttons on the "Home" page. The main question is "why are they there?" Many companies ask that you place a button on your front page as a "thank you" for using their services. They make it easier for folks to instantly connect to some great sites to improve their own web sites. For more information, you can go to Bill Pc for more help.Finally...A Safe PlaceI want these pages to be safe, fun and full of surprises. Sorry to ramble on, but the page doesn't look a whole lot different, but has undergone many changes. I just want it to be as pleasurable a visit as possible. As always, your suggestions are welcome |
